Snow and Julia
Meeting has been truly unforgettable for the two souls.
A True Gentleman
Snow came from a lady who was moving overseas and was surrendered to a rescue. The 35-year-old stock horse is a gentle soul who cares for his friends. We realised two years ago that Snow had some issues and we admitted him to Roseworthy where it was discovered he had sheath cancer. He had a partial excision which has helped tremendously. His cancer returned and sadly, we lost Snow recently but he lives on with the herd at Liberty Fields.
Cherokee was originally to be my riding horse but suffered from arthritic issues. The 17-year-old chestnut gelding came to Liberty Fields in 2016. A beautiful boy who loves attention - his bff is Tango and Casper.
My Little Puppy
Casper was found in a bad way. The 10-year-old Few spot appaloosa was found with bad sunburn to his face, under weight and with conjunctivitis. He loves his forever home and all his friends and is the youngster of the group. Casper suffers from night blindness and depends on the herd to help him through the dark nights.
Julia is a 24-year-old Arab Percheron mare who was abandoned on crown land in South Australia's mid north - not a tree in sight and only red bush dirt. I don't know how she survived. She was underweight, scared and left behind when her owners moved on 12 years earlier. She had lost her brother during this time and his bones were found near her. Julia was rescued by Ruth Norris and saved by Lisa Obst. She has adjusted and now has Snow by her side constantly.
The Tall Prince
The son of a Melbourne Cup winner, the 18-year-old thoroughbred loves his new home and friends. Fabio Came to us along with little Coco - both had been abused, rescued and abused again. He stands high and proud and loves to run through the paddocks majestically.
Coco is a dark brown 30-year-old miniature mare who is the darling of the family. A beautiful nature and always ready for a cuddle, she arrived with Fabio who is very attached to her.
Without the support of all my equine friends and my husband, my dream of helping animals would not have come true.
As a child I loved Horses, rode them, worried for them and cared for them. Beauty was my first horse at Hegerty's Riding School MacDonald Park 40+ years ago. Everyone in the stables called Beauty a mule, she was black and had large ears but I loved her. I would muck out stables for a free ride. I would spend all my weekends there, but life took me down a survival path so it wasn't until the last few years that I could help save more horses for Beauty.
